Hadley's first Thanksgiving

Although she wasn't able to eat any turkey, Hadley had a great time on Thanksgiving. We went over to Lacie's house and Hadley loved hanging out with Lacie and Chris and she absolutely loved their dog Max! She was so interested in him, it was adorable! Lacie got a very cute picture of it that I will post once she emails to me.

It was a great day spent with great friends! I am so thankful for my beautiful baby girl, my amazing husband, my wonderful family and my fabulous friends! We have truly been blessed this year and I hope that the blessings keep coming in 2010!

Hadley and I will be leaving for Indiana on Wednesday, I am super excited to see my sister! It's kind of bittersweet though because I am sad to leave Wes and sad that he won't get to see his baby girl for 2 months. I try to stay positive and I tell Hadley that Daddy goes aways because he loves her, he goes away because it's his job and without his job we wouldn't have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food in our bellies :)

I have to take Hadley to get the second dose of her flu vaccine on Monday before we go. She got her H1N1 on Tuesday and she will need to get the second dose of that while we are in Indiana. She got a little sick after the H1N1, but it didn't last long.

I hope that everybody had a great Thanksgiving! God bless!!

October - November 2009

Hadley had her 6 month well baby check in October, she weighed 14 lbs. 11.9 oz. and was 26 1/2 inches long. She also got her immunizations and a flu shot that day and then had to have some blood taken for a blood and iron count.

We had her 6 month pictures taken on October 19th and although she was having a bit of a meltdown we managed to get one good pose.

She and I will be going to Indiana on December 2nd to stay with my sister Amy while Wes goes on another deployment. We will come home in February, Wes will be home around the same time as us.

Hadley has also had a developmental screening because she was a preemie. Her social skills are at a 9 month level, her self help skills are at a 9 month level, hre growth is at a 6 month level, her motor skills are at a 7 month level and her language is at a 9 month level so she is doing great! They will screen her again in 3 months (March).

Wes has been on the boat a lot lately which is normal when the boat is getting ready to leave. Hadley and I don't get to see him a lot, so the little time we do have with him we take advantage of. Hadley loves her daddy, she takes naps with him and cuddles with him and LOVES to play with him. We are planning to get a recordable story book for Wes to record and I can play for Hadley while he is gone so she doesn't forget the sound of his voice.

I have been doing good for the most part, I'm still have a lot of back problems, but since I'm out of work it's not a big issue. I can relax at home and keep the activities to a minimum.

I hope that everyone is doing well and Happy Holidays!!

Update on us

Bethany - I haven't been up to a whole lot, just getting the hang of this Mother thing. I spent a month and a half in Indiana this summer visiting my sister Amy, her hubby and their babies. I haven't seen them since December so it was nice. It was also the first time that Amy got to meet Miss Hadley. I had a blast over there, Wes was deployed so it really took my mind off of things. Since I've been back I have had some pretty bad sciatica pains (if you don't know what sciatica is, it's a nerve that runs from your butt down your leg and a pinch or something in it can cause pretty bad leg and back problems) I had to start seeing a chiropractor, but it's helped a lot. I still see him once a week because I still have a lot of healing to do.

Wes - He's just been working and spending time with us when he can. He loves being a Daddy and I love seeing how happy he gets when he comes home and sees Hadley everyday. He's not looking forward to going out to sea again since he will miss Hadley's first Christmas, but that's why I bought a video camera! I haven't been able to do a lot of things around the house because of my back and leg so he's been doing a lot of the cooking and cleaning.

Hadley - Wow! Where to start with Miss Hadley, well, she is 5 months old now. She loves to talk (coo) to people, and she's started giggling, it's the cutest thing ever! She loves to play peek-a-boo and patty cake. She's not very fond of tummy time, but we'll get there. She has started eating rice cereal and oatmeal, she doesn't like them by themselves, but if I mix them with something (rice with sweet potatoes or carrots, oatmeal with bananas or peaches) then she loves them! She's getting really good at using her hands to grab things and play with them. Her doctor's treat her like she was full term so even though she is 5 months they think of her as 4 months, but she's doing most things that she should at 5 months so it's not an issue. She's an incredibly happy baby, she doesn't cry a lot, I am super lucky to have such a good baby!

We took her to church for the first time a couple weeks ago and she didn't like the live band, but I took her in the Mother's room and she did fine. We also took her to the fair this week. She loved the lights and bright colors, she did not like the loud fog horn that went off everytime someone went in the ejection seat, it scared the crap out of her.

She loves to sit in her Bumbo and play with her toys, I'm excited for her to turn 6 months so I can get her a jumperoo, she loves to kick her legs and stand up so I think she will love it.

That's about it, that's what has been going on with us lately. We hope that everybody is well! God bless!
